About Advanced Placement (AP®)

The Advanced Placement (AP®) program is an initiative created by the College Board, which offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students. College Board is a not-for-profit organisation that is responsible for other educational initiatives and tests like the SAT. Recognised by 700 universities worldwide, AP® program offers following benefits:

The AP® program offers exams in a variety of subjects, spanning the humanities, sciences, social sciences, arts, and more. Some of the most popular exams include AP® Biology, AP® Calculus (AB & BC), AP® English Language and Composition, AP® Physics, and AP® U.S. History, among many others. Students typically register for AP® exams through their high schools. Those students whose schools don’t offer AP® can take it at another school that does. Exams are usually held in May each year, spread over two weeks in the first half of the month.
